Javier Vargas + Yolanda Perez
Javier Vargas was born in may 21st 1978 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. He’s been married to his wife, Yolanda Pérez, for 26 years and together they are the parents of three amazing children, Jabes (21), Luz (15) and Angel (14), all three of them through the miracle of adoption. He came to the knowledge of Christ on January 6, 1994, when he was only 16 years old. He served leading the youth and men ministries and now serves as marriage counselor and parenting counselor in his local church. In 2015, due to the trauma experience by his children during their time in the foster care system, he founded Adoptando en PR Inc. in which, along with his staff, they have served of 300 families in Puerto Rico. In 2019 founded CREE, the very first Emotional and Spiritual Restoration Center for orphans in Puerto Rico. In 2021 he began serving also orphans and disadvantaged children in Dominican Republic and soon Guatemala through their initiative called Adoptando International. Due to the growth and expansion of his ministry now Adoptando en PR is better known as Adoptando Ministries. Vargas has a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration and is finishing his Master’s Degree in Theology from Southwestern Baptist College. Adoptando en PR Inc. (AKA Adoptando Ministries)
Founded in 2015, Adoptando en PR is located in the northwest part of Puerto Rico, in the city of Quebradillas. Since founded it has helped, directly or indirectly, over 300 Christian families in their adoption process, from the initial orientation, counseling and training process to completion in court. Due to the traumas, neglect and abandonment that the children living within the foster care system in Puerto Rico, Adoptando has specialized in equipping families to adopt children with profound traumas, placing these children and their needs at the center of the motivation for adoption of each of their families and not the other way around. In 2017, after hurricane Maria, Adoptando en PR created some Christmas events to bring the joy of the Gospel to different orphanages. It was there that the Holy Spirit brought conviction to Javier’s heart motivating him that if for the previous years he had endeavored to prepare families to receive these children, it was time to begin working with the same enthusiasm to prepare these children to receive their new families by putting the gospel as the cornerstone in the process. In 2019, Adoptando enters into an exclusive partnership with SendRelief which allowed this ministry to open their first Adoption Agency in November of 2019, open a mission house for teams to come and serve in 2020. They launched their International Services in 2021 and the first Emotional and Spiritual Restoration Center for children (CREE) in 2022. In 2023 they opened a second location in the San Juan Metropolitan Area and by 2025 are expected to open two new orphanages through CREE.
