Helping People Love Jesus to Live for Him | 2 Peter 1:3-15
Andy Wells   -

Every week we end our services with “You’ve come to church, go and BE THE CHURCH!” In this series our goal is to define what it means for our local body of believers to BE THE CHURCH as we embrace our mission of “helping people love Jesus to live for Him every day.”

The process of growing a cucumber includes a number of steps. First, there is a starting point – you have to know the best time of year and how to plant the seeds. Next, there is visible growth – even before the fruit of the plants blossomed, you can see the vines grow. And Finally, there is fruit that can reproduce. And a true gardener wouldn’t be satisfied with fruitless vines.

In 2 Peter 1:3-15 we see that in our individual process of living for Jesus, we too have a starting point, we should see visible growth, and should produce fruit in our lives.

RESOURCES FROM THE SERMON

Tune into God’s presence and peace by slowing down, meditating on scripture, listening to God and praying for 10 minutes at the beginning and end of each day. DEVELOP A DAILY RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS
We are constantly being formed by the world around us. To be formed by Jesus will require us to become his apprentice. To as the first Christian disciples did with a set of practices and relational rhythms that slow us down and open up space in our daily lives for God to do what only God can do—transforms the deepest parts of us to become like him.
The HEAR journaling method promotes reading the Bible with a life-transforming purpose. No longer will your focus be on checking off the boxes on your daily reading schedule; your purpose will instead be to read in order to understand and respond to God’s Word.
Robby Gallaty tackles the two hindrances that keep believers from getting involved in making disciples: ignorance and uncertainty. Rediscovering Discipleship provides readers with the tools to follow the Great Commission—to go and actually make disciples who multiply and make disciples.
