The Cross has the Final Word | John 19:28-30
Who or what has the final word or say in your life? Who or what has the final word or say in your life is who or what has the ultimate authority. Do other’s opinions, science, my parents, the government, popular culture, my spouse, my kids, my boss, my friends, or God, have the final and ultimate word over our lives? When someone tells me (or myself or Satan), that I am failure, or worthless or hopeless, I have a choice to make: who do I believe? Do I believe what them or what God says about me?
It’s Friday when we remember Jesus’ death on the Cross. All that has happened since Adam and Eve fell in the Garden has been set into motion. On the Cross, Jesus spoke at least 7 statements: Some to the crowd, some to his family and friends and some to the Father. From the Cross, Jesus spoke the final word over our lives. When Jesus uttered those words, “It is Finished,” it is what made Good Friday good. The Cross of Jesus gives us the final word, “It is finished,” which gives us strength for today and hope for tomorrow.
