What God Could Do – Buster

  -

I started going to the College + Young Pros group towards the end of my senior year of High School. I attended throughout the summer and even served at Student Camp with some newfound college friends. Being a freshman in such a larger age group seemed weird at first, but everyone was very close and welcoming.

Within our group I’ve found accountability partners and brothers who are eager to read God’s word and grow with each other.

The College + Young Pros Ministry has been such a blessing to me as I have been able to not only grow in my faith, but act on it. People like Pastor Greg Clydesdale and Pastor John Patterson have pushed us to be disciples who disciple others.

Back during the same summer I served at Student Camp, I had a conversation with Pastor John. We were talking about ministry and how you know if you are called to it. It was my first year as a camp counselor and 4 students from my small group accepted Jesus into their lives, so it was fresh on my mind. John prayed with me and talked about what being a leader is like and how to humble yourself so that God can use you. Ever since camp I’ve prayed for God to use me in big ways as I was heading into my first year of college at FGCU. I had some doubts and was unsure about what God could do through me at such a big school.

Within the first couple of weeks, I built up a small group of friends by playing ping pong in our hall. It was about 4 guys who I would bump into here and there but eventually I got up the courage to share my witness about Jesus with them. With help from my brother and roommate, they began to open up and talk about their beliefs. We actually met a couple of believers who were very new to faith in Jesus. That group moved from ping pong to a whole bible study on Sunday nights.

Our original 4 guys have grown to 10 as we continue reaching out.

It is the most satisfying feeling to see the fruits of that and how God has been able to use me to disciple others. The experience has been great and putting myself in a position of leadership has grown my faith so much. I wasn’t equipped to lead a group of 10 people, but throwing myself into that position has given me a desire to be in the Word and be a good example of Christ.

2 Corinthians 9:8
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
