Breaking Free from the Tyranny of Insecurity | Romans 8:31-39
God wants you free. Jesus died for you to be free. If is for freedom that we have been set free. You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. Jesus died to make you positionally free before God and He died to make you experientially free – to live out that freedom in this life now.
Romans 8:31-39 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died-more than that, who was raised-who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
- Resignation – I am going to live in fear and insecurity. Nobody is perfect. This is my lot. My cross to bear.
- Justification – It’s ok to live like this. God loves me, cares for me, intends for me to have this experience. I’ll just embrace all of the insecurity.
- Determination – I will experience the freedom that God wants me to have.
1. God confronts our insecurity
2. God explains our security
- Look at the Scripture
- Look at His Spirit
- Look at His sovereignty
- Look at His saints
3. God sustains our security.
- There is no condemnation
- We have been set free from the law of sin and death
- The Spirit of Christ now dwells in your heart
- You have been adopted into God’s family
- Your body will be redeemed
- The Holy Spirit of God prays for you
- All things work together for good
- Predestined to be conformed to he image of His Son
- We are justified
- We are glorified
God will finish what He started in you. Trust Him. Rest in Him.
You may be the first one in your family or in your home to experience this freedom. You can lead others to the life Christ saved you to live.
