Devotion to Desires | Matthew 6:19-24
Where is your treasure today: on things that fade, or on what lasts forever? Jesus calls His disciples to complete devotion, not partial allegiance, and reminds us that the rhythms of giving, praying, and fasting shape our desires toward His kingdom. Throughout life’s stages—from teenage years to retirement—each season presents unique “treasure traps,” whether popularity, career success, material security, or comfort. Yet, all earthly treasures fade, while only Christ and His eternal kingdom endure. The call is clear: abide in Christ, walk in obedience, and give Him our whole selves, so our desires align with His.
In Matthew 6:19–24, Jesus teaches that our treasures reveal the true location of our hearts. He warns that we cannot serve two masters, and urges us to store up eternal treasure in Him rather than earthly wealth. What we devote ourselves to will shape our desires—so let your treasure, and your heart, be fully in Christ.
