Only Jesus: Time + Opportunity | Colossians 4:2-6
How many of you are wasting your life? Believe it or not, we think about it more than we know. We live in a culture that is obsessed with productivity. Our culture is obsessed with a preoccupation of harder, better, faster and stronger trying to cram in as much work and pleasure we can in every single day.
Paul is writing to a church while in prison reminding them of the supremacy and sufficiency of Jesus. Because Jesus is first and Jesus went first, He deserves to be first in our lives. As Paul has been talking about how when Jesus is at the center of our lives, it impacts every interaction in every relationship in our lives: marriage, parenting, and work. As Paul ends his letter, he is giving practical instructions about how to best use our one and only lives for Jesus’ mission through his own personal example. What would my daily life look like if Jesus were at the center of it? The Christ-centered person is prayerful and purposeful in their everyday life to be on mission for Jesus.
